Roundtable Participants
The essay, "Shaping the Future," is based on a special Roundtable on the
Public and Private Finance of Higher Education, jointly convened by the
California Higher Education Policy Center and the Pew Higher Education
Roundtable, with support from the Ford Foundation and the James Irvine
Foundation. The Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE)
and the Southern Regional Educational Board (SREB) also served as co-sponsors.
In preparation for the roundtable discussion, case studies were prepared that
examined the political and financial circumstances affecting higher education in
five states: California, Florida, Michigan, Minnesota, and New York. Copies of
these case studies, and of the other policy papers mentioned in this essay,
may be obtained from the California Higher Education Policy Center, 160
West Santa Clara Street, Suite 704, San Jose, CA 95113.
